Basic Interactive Teaching Sessions (BITS)


BITS Courses

Learn from experienced emergency physicians and nurses who will share their knowledge and expertise and guide you through practical simulations and case studies targeted at junior doctors and nurses. Gain foundational knowledge and the hands-on experience you need to effectively assess, stabilise and treat complex medical and trauma patients.

Future course dates include:

  • HABITS: May 8th, 2026
  • Trauma BITS: August 7th, 2026
  • HABITS: November 20th, 2026

These courses are currently offered to RMH & RWH staff only however if you are interested in attending as an external applicant in the future please contact us.


High Acuity BITS

Learn how to assess and manage patients in respiratory distress and shock. Escalate clinical care and effectively communicate within a multi-disciplinary team whilst putting your new skills into practice.

Trauma BITS

Gain valuable insights into mechanism of injury and trauma risk assessment. Develop essential skills in trauma through practical sessions where you'll learn how to:

  • Conduct a rapid trauma assessment
  • Manage airway and breathing difficulties
  • Control bleeding and stabilise fractures
  • Identify and treat common traumatic injuries
